Glamis Castle
Glamis Castle
(Austin, UK, 1992)

English Rose
'Graham Thomas' x 'Mary Rose'
1' (planted spring 2000)

David Austin calls this his best white rose to date and he gets no argument from me - this is a lovely little thing. The shrub isn't much to look at yet, but the blossoms are charming and plentiful, as promised. Its namesake, the real Glamis Castle, has been a royal residence since 1372. It is the childhood home of the Queen Mother, the birthplace of Princess Margaret and the setting of Shakespeare's play Macbeth.
